This website contains information for people who have received a letter from Finance America LLC asking them to call Finance America about a new home loan. A lawsuit about the mailing of these letters was filed in federal court in Santa Ana, California in September, 2005.
The parties to the lawsuit have agreed to settle the case, subject to court approval. For more information about the settlement and the settlement approval process, click here.
You are a class member in this case if Finance America mailed you a letter asking you to contact them about applying for a new home loan at any time between March 2, 2003 and December 18, 2006.
You can exclude yourself from the class if you don’t want to give up the right to sue Finance America for obtaining your name and address from a credit bureau in order to send you a letter asking you to call them about a new home loan.
Members of the class in this case will be able to apply for a "Settlement Loan" if and when the Court decides that the settlement is fair, adequate and reasonable and the settlement becomes effective. If you would like to be contacted if and when Settlement Loans become available, you can tell us here how you would like us to contact you (telephone, email or mail) after the settlement goes into effect. The Class Notice contains detailed information about the case.
If you’ve received a mailed notice about the lawsuit, or if you haven’t received a mailed notice, but think you might be a member of the settlement class, click here.
